CUPS celebrates “Christmas in January” for those in need
CALGARY, AB (Jan. 11, 2018) — As the shine of the holiday season begins to fade and the cold, grey winter sets in, January can be a dismal time of year for many. For the less fortunate in our community, this month can be especially bleak. It’s important to remind those struggling, that we don’t forget about them when the holiday season fades away.
On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, CUPS is proud to partner with the Hyatt Regency and Calgary Stampeders for the 29th Annual Christmas in January — a festive community feast for more than 300 homeless and low-income individuals and families. Guests will enjoy a gourmet traditional turkey dinner prepared by the Hyatt and served up by the Calgary Stampeders, be entertained by the New West Symphony and Chorus and will leave with a gift bag of necessities – and feeling supported by the entire community.
CUPS helps low-income Calgarians overcome the adversity of poverty and trauma by empowering them to become self-sufficient through positive brain development. Part of the community for 28 years, CUPS provides integrated health, education and housing services to 10,000 individuals and families each year who are struggling with the challenges of poverty and trauma. Through providing a roadmap and resources for people to make lifelong changes, CUPS helps participants become resilient and set up for a successful future. cupscalgary.com
